Jackie Von Tobel caught enjoying a moment of relaxation!
This week Jackie Von Tobel takes a rare hour off from work and stops by The Skirted Roundtable for a visit. We feel extremely lucky to share some time with Jackie, she is one busy lady. We all first met through the blogs - Jackie writes Jackie Blue (HERE) - but quickly learned there is a lot more to this lady from Las Vegas than just blogging. She is an interior designer by trade and had built up quite a large business in Vegas, even operating her own showroom.
Jackie, her husband and daughter - she also has two sons. Jackie's extremely handsome and talented husband is in advertising and is quite famous for writing one of the most successful ad campaigns "What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas!!!!"
After many years of hard work running first her own faux painting company and then, an interior design firm, Jackie unexpectedly switched gears and became an author, quickly churning out two massive reference books on window treatments and bedding. These two books are fabulous resources, filled with her own charming illustrations. The amount of work and time it took to write these two books is beyond comprehension, each is filled with thousands of her drawings!
Jackie's first book is all about window treatments.
But wait, there is more. After her two books were published, Jackie was approached to bring her illustrations to life by creating her own fabric line. You can purchase her fabrics and pillows online HERE. And also in conjunction with her books, Jackie recently designed software for Minutes Matter that lets you customize your client's window treatments using her templates! Is there anything Jackie can't do???? To read all about her collaboration with Minutes Matter, go HERE.
Jackie's second book is all about bedding.
Jackie is full of stories on how to make your dreams a reality and how to get motivated to accomplish it all. Listening to her is truly inspiring, she makes you believe that "hey, if I can do it all, so can you." Well, that's not exactly true. Jackie is one-of-a-kind special, her humbleness keeps her from seeing how accomplished she truly is. Her lust for life is infectious and we all felt so motivated after listening to her life story. I hope you will too!
To coincide with Jackie's visit, we are hosting a giveaway, thanks to Miss Von Tobel - we are giving away a copy of each of her books! In order to enter the contest, you must go to Jackie's web site HERE, under Collections, and pick out your favorite fabric from Jackie's line. Come back to the Comment Section and tell us which is your #1 fabric pick! We will pick two winners from the list. The contest will run until next Thursday, February 25. So be sure to hurry and enter!
Thank you again Jackie for stopping by and putting the fire under us to push ourselves harder, because dreams do come true - it just takes a lot of sweat, determination, talent, patience, and hard labor!

I must admit I loved them all.
I loved the post, most interesting... I would love to have her book on drapery
So many beautiful fabrics, it was hard to select one.
I love both of her books..I have also enjoyed connected with her in the blog world too!
This past summer I had the pleasure of catching up with Jackie and we had lunch. She brought her drawings and fabric samples for me to see...I was sooo exited! What a sweetheart to share... A perfect example of her kindness and how open she is...
I am so thrilled for her and all the beautiful things she has created!
She is an inspiration to us all!

Especially the hard work you put in, which you never can bill for!

I love Jackie's Angelica fabric; it makes me want to re-do my girls' room right now!
I loved listening to the posting, as I do, over and over again your past ones! They are my favourite thing to listen to while cleaning my bathrooms or exercising, it just makes the chores so much easier!!! Jackie's discussion was interesting, chatting about the trends coming from Europe. Being English and having moved from Belgium to Tokyo just last year, I brought with me a huge and very heavy solid oak, limed ever so slightly, modern dining table that seats 8. I was worried that it would look awkward in our modern apartment here, but everyone who comes in loves it and asks me where I bought it. We also have black, wenge wooden side tables, chests of drawers etc which complement the table. We have a low cupboard in shiny white which also looks fabulous along with the other pieces. So I think from what Jackie said, I am on trend "globally" at this time, which makes me happy. Thanks ladies for another informative post.
By the way, I love the Cherry Blossom range and in particular the magenta paisley from Jackie's collection, particularly as it's Cherry Blossom time in Japan. She is such a talented lady, loved hearing her story.

Thank you for the inspiration on a snowy Michigan morning.
My favorites (I couldn't pick one!) were Saffron Birds and Branches - Crimson and Damask Stripe - Indigo. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those Peacock Pillows! Oh Jackie... you had me at hello!!!
Now, it was very hard to choose just one fabric - but I will say Moonflower Trellis in Jet from the Cinnabar Collection is at the top of my list - what great inspiration!
Mauve: : "Grape gum that has been chewed for three hours"...Megan you crack me up! And you are so right! I wonder if I will succumb to my most hated of all colors like I swore I never would when "jeggings" came out.(They really are comfortable and look great with riding boots...and a loooong shirt!...I couldn't help it.)
Your Roundtable discussion of the unlined linen trend seen in Cologne was interesting. What you may not realize is that in Germany and much of Middle Europe the most common alternative is no window treatments at all. There are such low light levels for so many months of the year that curtains are thought of as light barriers in the negative sense. New window technology has eliminated the need for heavy curtains to keep out cold. Lack of scorching sun obviates need for lining to preserve drapery fabric. Unlined linen, voiles and other sheer fabrics serve to decorate the window without much obscuring the little light there is. And, it is more affordable. There are solid reasons for the popularity.

But the two that immediate caught my eye were Moonflower Trellis in crimson (love the colors) and Moroccan Tile in indigo.
I'm so glad that you introduced me to this wonderful designer - I've been looking for new fabric lines to write about on the Style Key West blog and she'll definitely be featured this week!
Thanks for sharing the line!
